The "University Life Program (ULP)" was open with Executive Vice-President Prof. Kwok's speech entitled "The Ideal of the University" at B102 30 September. The University Life Program is a compulsory course for all year-one students, aiming to help them better adapt to the university life .

Prof. Kwok giving the speech
The speech was broadcasted live to three other classrooms at section B of the teaching building. Around 400 students attended the course.
Prof. Kwok elaborated how the university life would influence the students and the society. He began his speech by talking about the hostel issue which happened at the beginning of this semester. He frankly pointed out the insufficient management of the hostel was the source of many problems. He emphasized that a college student should not only learn what's written in the textbooks, but also learn how to manage oneself. It's equally important for a student to learn the abilities to establish and maintain a good interpersonal relationship and organize different people to work for a shared goal. A person in oneself is very limited, but the meaning of life lies in exerting one's unlimited potentials within a limited space and time.
In the Q&A section, the students were very active, and Prof. Kwok's humorous answers echoed frequent applauses.
The "University Life Program" is a constituent part of Whole Person Education. Prof. Zhu Liyun, center-director of ULP told that the course is set up for all Year-one students to help them form good habits in studying, managing time and money, and learning basic social skills. The content of the course includes history, culture, interactivity with the society, health hygiene, and etiquette, etc.
