Iala Liang and Maggie Huang, two girls from UIC SIFE were awarded the Internship Certification from Sealed Air Company China in Shenzhen in September.
On Oct. 21st, UIC SIFE team held a ceremony to celebrate the honors with all UIC SIFE members. Mr. Giff Searls, Associate Director of UIC Student Career Development Office (SCDO), and Dr. Karen Lee, UIC SIFE Faculty Advisor were invited to the ceremony.
During the internship, Iala and Maggie attended the packaging symposium of Sealed Air Company. They learned practical knowledge about the packaging industry and sales approaches. "They have a powerful sales team and service department. These two departments cooperate quite well." Iala said. What mostly impressed them was their well-organized teamwork and network. "Everyone is full of enthusiasm. It encourages me to keep on doing things passionately."
"UIC SIFE team's perfect performance in the SIFE national competition in Shanghai and the help from Mr. Searls made it possible for us to get the internship." Maggie told to our reporter. When asked why these two girls could get the chance, Mr. Searls only used three words to describe them, "Confidence, cooperation, and passion." Dr. Lee said, "Their influent English helped them a lot. It is also one of the strength of all UIC students."
"I feel very proud that I am a member of UIC SIFE. I learned a lot from our excellent SIFE members. Their success motivates all of us!" Cheryl Jin, one of UIC SIFE members told our reporter.
Mr. Searls was named "Faculty Advisor" of SIFE China. The certification was given to him in the ceremony. He then gave an enthusiastic speech to all the SIFE members. He spoke highly of UIC SIFE team, "You are absolutely wonderful. You are the face of UIC, and you help to promote UIC! "He told them to start career development right now."You should know who you are and find out your strengths and weaknesses. " He also asked students to be active and join some voluntary work.
