On the morning of March 12th, the Customer Care Manager Ms. Shi Cheng from CargoSmart came to UIC and held an introductory meeting for the students. Besides, Ms. Shi Cheng also introduced the software technique about the shipping documentation of their company. CargoSmart Limited is a Software as a Service (SaaS) global shipping and logistics solutions provider, with advanced visibility and exception management, that enables shippers, consignees, logistics service providers, NVOCCs, and ocean carriers to keep cargo moving and delivered on time. Through online tools and integration services, CargoSmart enables customers to plan, process, and monitor the critical path of multiple-carrier shipments and communicate in-depth, timely information to key supply chain associates.

What they provided with the UIC students is the very online shipping documentation training. The students who were employed successfully could do the online documentation online wherever there is internet access. While during the summer holiday, students could work at the company.

Ms Shicheng said that they implant this project into campuses with two purposes. On the one hand, they hoped that more students could serve for their company. On the other hand, they wished that students could learn more practical skills and knowledge in the realistic workplace through professional training. This is a win-win collaboration. The students who were present showed great interest in this project and they asked a wide range of questions including working hours, recruiting quota, the way of signing up and so on. Ms. Shicheng explained that they had no rigid restriction on working hours. On the contrary, they adopted the method of piecework wage. Students could work online in their spare time.

UIC students can go to ask Ms. Abby for more detailed information at the Admission and Career Development Office.
