Professor Jeong-Bon Kim Gave an Seminar on Accounting

Published on 19 March 2010

On March 18th, Professor Jeong-Bon Kim, the Chair Professor and Head of the Accountancy Department at City University of Hong Kong, gave a distinguished research seminar which was one of the Professional Development Talks organized by the Division of Business and Management at UIC. Professor Kim is a prolific researcher in accounting and finance and has served several editorial boards of accounting and finance journals.

The seminar entitled"Does accounting conservatism reduce stock price crash risk? -- Firm-level evidence" was based on a research study conducted by Professor Kim on the relationship between accounting conservatism and stock price. Many students from DBM attended the seminar and found it interesting and inspiring. A year-4 student from Accounting described this seminar as a good example of breaking conventions because Professor Kim is a real critical thinker who proposed a reverse point of view on the matter and insisted to stick with it. Also, his research article inspires students to write a good research paper as the road of research truly needs tons of effort and patience.

The seminar was successfully ended with Professor Stella Cho, Dean of the Division of Business and Management presenting a souvenir to Professor Jeong-Bon Kim on behalf of UIC.
