The Opening Ceremony of annual UIC Summer Porgramme is held at Hong Kong Baptist University recently. The Welcome Lunch of UIC Summer Programme was held at HKBU on July.9th, 2010. Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) & Secretary of HKBU, presented a welcome speech on behalf of all the members and students in HKBU, and wish them a happy life during their study at HKBU. Representatives from HKBU departments also attended the Welcome Lunch with their wishes to UIC students. The reason why many UIC students want to participate in the HKBU Summer Programme is because they want to get to know the university life and culture of Hong Kong, which will help them to prepare for their further study in Hong Kong. UIC Year 2 student Wu Yi, who is majored in International Journalism, was enrolled in English News Writing and English Translation. In addition to improving her professional skills, Wu Yi also hopes that she can experience the life in Hong Kong, "After graduating from UIC, I plan to continue the further study in Hong Kong. The study in HKBU is a start for me to get to know HK." UIC Year 2 student Ma Ke, who is majored in Accounting, wants to go to the graduate schools in Hong Kong after graduation, "I would like to take this opportunity to know the local culture of Hong Kong, which will be helpful for my further study in Hong Kong." UIC Year 2 student Yu Hongze , who is majored in Accounting, wants to experience the life of Hong Kong, "Although most of the courses of the Summer Programme belong to the area of Humanities and Social Sciences, which are not relevant to my major, I hope I can broaden my view through the study. I always look forward to going to Hong Kong and taking this trip. Prof. Vincent Kwan, Chief of Hong Kong and Macau Affairs and Chairman of Executive Committee of Summer Prgramme, hopes that UIC students will broaden their view by participating in this programme. He said: "Hong Kong is a prosperous city and it brings together different people and cultures from around the world. I hope that this program will not only enrich the summer holiday for the students, but also broaden their global."

From 2007, the UIC Summer Programme has been held annually in HKBU. Since all courses are conducted by HKBU teachers and the enrolled the credits can be transferred to UIC, the Summer Programme at HKBU becomes very popular among the UIC students. This year, 326 students participated in Summer Programme HKBU, in which they can choose 1 to 2 courses. In addition to the enriched curriculum, this year's summer program also includes a variety of extracurricular activities. Students have a lot of chances to visit places in HK with local characteristics, such as Hong Kong Ocean Park, HKU/Cyber Port and UST/Saigon; CU/HK Heritage Museum; HK Police Museum/ The Peak; HK Correctional Services Museum/ Stanley Main Beach; HKMA& HKEx; Lamar Island; Chueng Chau; Ma Wan etc. Students will have an opportunity to know more about the life in Hong Kong and its culture during their stay.
