2010 Fall Postgraduate Information Fair Held with Success

The Postgraduate Information Fair was held on campus on Oct 16. Various post-graduate programmes provided by 6 reputable universities attracted over 3000 attendance from within and beyond the college. Some parents and students took night flights from other provinces to attend this information fair.

The six universities were: University of Warwick(UW), The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Swiss Education Group (SEG), Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).

Representatives of the the universities set counters at B102, sent out pamphlets and brochures about the post-graduate programmes, and communicated with interested students face to face. Besides, HKPU, HKBU, HKUST and UW each made a 40-min brief presentation about their post-graduate programmes.

UIC Vice President Professor Zee Sze Yong said, this was the largest formal Postgraduate Information Fair with the highest standing universities in Zhuhai. Dean of Division of Business and Management Professor Stella Cho explained that, this event was a platform in need, because there were about 40% graduates this year that chose to study further abroad. Dr. Kevin Zhen, Director of the Admission and Career Development Office (ACDO) said that such an information fair was also beneficial for enhancing UIC's global recognition.

The representatives from UNSW said they were impressed by Mainland Chinese students and parents' passion and the organization of this information fair. Prof. Chen Jieguang, Associate Director of HKBU Graduate School, said the rapid growth of UIC students were refreshing. Besides, he revealed that HKBU would increase their requirement on applicants' English proficiency.  

The information fair was organized by ACDO. Both the paritipating universities and ACDO expressed intention of further cooperation.
