A Year in harmony: BNBU marks its 20th anniversary with music across borders

Published on 4 November 2025

As BNBU celebrates its 20th anniversary, music has become one of its most powerful bridges to the world. From campus stages to international collaborations, a series of performances this year has showcased the university’s cultural confidence, artistic excellence and global vision.

The Yuzhen Jinsheng Yayue Orchestra of BNBU performed in Hong Kong on 19 October 2025 for the second stop of its world tour, as part of the university’s 20th anniversary celebrations. The concert also featured a special exhibition cooperated with the Nanyue King Museum, merging academic display with live performance. The orchestra’s upcoming performances will be in Boston and New York.

The BNBU 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert took place on 28 October 2025. The diverse programme featured classical, jazz, pop and traditional Chinese music, and was performed by international pianist Liu Shikun, mezzo-soprano Zhu Huiling, and over 100 students and staff performers. The programme included piano ensembles, choral works, dance and innovative cross-genre collaborations.

On 10 June 2025, the Bard East/West Ensemble from the Bard College Conservatory of Music visited BNBU and performed with faculty and students from BNBU’s Department of Music and other artists.
