Published on 2 July 2007

In the afternoon of June 21, more than 300 students and mentors gathered at the Teaching Building for a meeting on the preparation of the New Student Orientation Program. It is also a part of the Four- Point Education Leadership Program. Executive Vice President Prof. Kwok Siu Tong and relevant mentors explained the meaning of the Leadership Program and made detail instructions on the preparation of the New Student Orientation Program at the meeting.

The Four- Point Education Student Leadership Program dedicates to the cultivation of students’ competency at work and a sense of ownership. The Program will help students to participate in college construction and development through various trainings and organizations. It has already attracted 300 students, who will play important roles in the communication, guiding, and service in the New Student Orientation Program in the coming new semester to help new students better adapt to the campus environment.

According to Executive Vice President Prof. Kwok Siu Tong, the program is not a simple freshmen welcoming activity. It will have an important influence to the future development of UIC. The College is hoping to train some of the students to become Junior Mentors to participate in both campus construction and academic establishment. They will also shoulder responsibilities in the communication among the College, students and parents, transferring fresh suggestions and ideas among the three parties.

Advocated by Prof. Kwok, three new student organizations will be established at UIC: Academic and Education Organization, Student Services Organization, and Student Life Organization. These three organizations will provide students with full-scale facilitation in academic study and living.
