Speaking of China's creative cultural industry, Prof. Hu said the Chinese State Council principally passed the Plan for Revitalizing the Creative & Cultural Industry in July, which meant the plan to invigorate the cultural industry had become an important part of the country's strategic economic outlooks.

Prof. Hu said China' creative & cultural industries had undergone three phases of development, from strategically ambiguous, strategically clear, to strategically initiative. As China entered WTO, the development of creative & cultural industry should also keep track with the world. Prof. Hu said currently, the creative and cultural industry in China existed in three basic forms: traditional handicraft industry, modern industrial production, and newly development information and online consumption. He said the creative and cultural industry was a conservation-oriented and labor-intensive industry, which would contribute a lot to employment and economic growth.

Head of the Zhuhai Municipal Publicity Department Mr. Huang Xiaodong talked about the current development of Zhuhai's creative and cultural industry. He said Zhuhai made its plan for cultural industry in 2005, the cultural industry and creative zone received a ten-million RMB investment from the government each year. For next year, the Zhuhai Municipal Government would invest 1.96 trillion RMB to the construction of four major cultural projects: the theatre, the exhibition hall, the museum and the cultural center. Besides, a 90 thousand square meter online game base would start construction at Tangjiawan, the district where UIC is located.

UIC Executive Vice-President Prof. S. T. Kwok said, there were (dis)similarities in the developmental process of different countries in the process of globalization. UIC is exploring a new path for the cultivation of professional talents for the creative and cultural industry.
