The two groups of visiting student from University of Seoul, Korea and the College of St. Scholastica, U. S. A. experienced UIC educational activities on Dec 30.
In the afternoon, they came to UIC Experimental Development Program Base, and tried out some of the EDP programs. For example, one of the programs tested how many people can stand together on a tire for ten seconds, the more the better. Another one required the students to support a pole which has a balancing marble with one finger and lower it down to the earth. No finger was allowed to get off the pole, and the marble should be kept in the middle of the pole. These programs look simple but require teamwork and collective wisdom.
In the afternoon, they watched the lion dance show which was performed by UIC students, and in the evening, they enjoyed the Chinese musical instrument performance at E201.
Kelly from the College of St. Scholastica said the language program in the morning and the EDP was very interesting, especially the EDP programs. She also liked the lion dance. She said the objective of her China trip is to experience the Chinese culture, and now the objective is being achieved.
While Minzi from the University of Seoul said she was most interested in the Chinese instrument Er'hu. She herself plays Haegum, a similar instrument as Er'hu. She said she was excited to see the real Er'hu and would like to communicate with the player.
Ms. Jasmine Sun from UIC International Development Office said these programs recieved positive feedback from the students, and IDO will show the students around Zhuhai and Macau in the coming few days.
