On December 28th, 20 students from the University of Seoul came to UIC. In the following 2 weeks, they are going to experience an extraordinary university life in UIC and visit some cities in Guangdong Province. This activity was jointly organized by the International Development Office of UIC and the Institute of International Cooperation and Education in Seoul University, which aim to further the development of mutual relations between these two universities and give a chance for the Korean students to learn the Chinese cultures.
The Senior cooperator of the IICE in Seoul University, Miss Song Huijuan said that University of Seoul provide many exchange programs for students. Students are eager to participate in those programs voluntarily. She claimed that "I hope we can usher a group of exchange students from UIC next year to let them experience the school life in Korea."
A year one student from the University of Seoul Jaime said she went to Beijing once before, which impressed her a lot. She chose to participate in this project because she wanted to make more friends and learn more in China.
Dr. Xuelian Zhang from GE office gave them Chinese Language Classes starting from 'survival' level. Simple conversations are taught by situation simulation. In the next 15 days, students will take part in more courses such as culture, art and the unique EDP at UIC. Moreover, they will enjoy the Dragon Lion Dance and classical musical concerts tomorrow evening.
On December 29th, eighteen students from the College of St. Scholastica in the USA will come to UIC with their J-term program.
