Four Point Education Trip To Changsha

The Four Point Trip is a practice of the Four Point Education Philosophy which calls for the participation of teachers, parents and the society to the process of cultivating students. There had been trips to Suzhou, Xi'an and other cities. This semester, UIC will go on Four Point Education Trips to Hunan, Anhui, Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces. On 15 March, a UIC delegation headed by UIC Executive Vice President Porf. Kwok Siutong went on the trip to Changsha, Hunan Province, which reached remarkable achievements. Together on the trip were Assistant to President, Chief of Development and Four-Point Education Ms. Lilian Li, and Director of Admission and Career Development Office(ACDO) Dr. Kevin Zhen, etc.

UIC to Enroll Category One Students in Hunan Province

On the visit to the Educational Examinations Authority (EEA) of Hunan Province on 16th March, the UIC delegation talked about the overall performance of Hunan students at UIC, which are excellent in general. And the Vice President of the EEA Ms. Zhuang Xiaoping also assured the quality of Hunan students based on their strict quality control system. Some of the officials of EEA have visited UIC before and are highly impressed with UIC's Whole Person Education. Prof. Kwok said UIC values the cooperation with Hunan, for its strength in foundation education. In the end, the two parties agreed that UIC's enrollment of students from Hunan upgrade from Category Two to Category One from this semester on, with the enrollment quota of 30 students.

Established Cooperative Relationship with SANY. Group

SANY Group is a leading company in the construction machinery industry in Asia, and the largest manufacturer of cement concrete machinery in the world. On the afternoon of 16th, the UIC delegation visited SANY Group and were received by the General Director of Human Resources Mr. Wang Wuchao. Dr. Kevin Zhen introduced UIC to the host. Mr. Wang said SANY has set foot on the phase of internationalization; talents with international perspectives and domestic culture are especially welcomed by their company. Mr.Wang expressed the wish of visiting UIC in the near future, and welcomed UIC students for internships and placements at their company. Later on, the Vice President of the SANY Career College Mr. Peng Yunjun showed the UIC delegation around the company.

Meeting with Parents in Hunan

A meeting with UIC student parents in Hunan was arranged on the evening of 16th March at the Wandai Hotel. Around 100 student parents attended the meeting, including parents of prospective students. Ms. Lilian Li informed about the latest development of the college. Prof. Kwok and Dr. Zhen also communicated extensively with the parents, responding to enquiries including further studies, changing majors, campus security, hardware construction, etc. Earlier in the afternoon, Prof. Kwok, Ms Lilian Li and Dr..Zhen Yong already met with some parents individually. Parents were happy to attend such a meeting, and thanked the college for its considerate acts.

On the next day, the UIC delegation visited the Yuelu Academy which was founded in 976 during the Song Dynasty. It is the only ancient academy which is still functioning as a higher educational institution in China, offering from bachelor to post doctoral programs on Philosophy, History, etc. Prof. Kwok exchanged teaching experience with the Head of the Yuelu Academy Prof. Zhu Hanlin as well as topics on how to educate students in this age of globalization.  

The three-day Four Point trip to Changsha ended on 17th March afternoon. Later, this trip will be carried on to Anhui, Liaoning and Heilongjiang Provinces in late March and April.
