On 26 Feb 2010, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China called a meeting at the Great Hall of the People to award the excellent private-run organizations in China. UIC, as the only higher educational institution which has registration in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was graded 4 A in Standardization Construction, the highest honor, among 42 thousand non-business social organizations in China. UIC Executive Vice President Prof. S.T. Kwok and Director of College Secretariat Ms Lilian Li attended the conference and received the certificate.
Officiating at the conference were Mr. Zhou Tienong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Mr. Li Xueju, Minister of Civil Affairs. Mr. Hui Liangyu, member of the political bureau of the central committee of the Communist Party of China, vice premier of the State Council, sent a congratulatory letter to this conference.
On 17 Dec 2009, a delegation headed by Mr. Jia Wei, director of the Administration and Service Office of the Ministry of Civil Affairs conducted an appraisal of UIC. The delegation was made up of government officials, professional researchers, lawyers, accountants and responsible officers of social organizations. They conducted a comprehensive appraisal of UIC covering areas of infrastructure construction, internal management, teaching and learning, credibility construction, and social reviews. After document review and evidence-taking, the delegation gave a high appraisal to UIC.
Ms. Zhao Na from the private-run organizations service center of the Ministry of Civil Affairs commended UIC's organizational activities, credibility construction, service to society and government, and long term planning as "excellent". Mr. Liang Fandong, director of the China Guanghua Foundation Office spoke highly about UIC's Four-Point Education. He suggested that UIC should create more channels to promote this kind of student caring model and improve UIC's social recognition. Mr. Yu Jinlin, director of the Tian Zheng Accounting Firm said auditors were generally quite picky, but it was hard for him to pick a bone out of the UIC financial system. He added, among the private-run organizations which he had appraised in the last half month, UIC's finance system was the best.
Mr. Lilian Li said as the first cooperative educational institution between Hong Kong and Mainland, UIC spares no effort in enriching the educational model for China. According to the exposure draft of the Plan of Mid Term and Long Term Educational Reform and Development, that to introduce excellent educational resources and establish some demonstrative Sino-foreign cooperative educational institutions is within the national strategic plan. Ms. Li said UIC will continue to explore and develop, in the hope of making contribution to the educational reform of China.
