Zhuhai College Student Leaders Gathered at UIC — Student Leaders High Table Dinner & Closing Ceremony

As the grand final show of UIC International Student Festival, the Student Leader High Table Dinner was held May 17th, attended by student leader representatives from Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus (BNUZ) and Beijing Institute of Technology-Zhuhai (BITZ). The dinner was organized by UIC Student Union Executive Committee. The student leader representatives shared their experiences on organizing student activities with representatives from UIC student Union and Professional Associations in an easy and pleasant atmosphere.
 
Through a brief review of UIC student festival, the representatives gained a better understanding of the student organization's role in UIC. Yang Daimin, Chairman of UIC students union, said  the event intended to build a platform on which college student leaders in Zhuhai could exchange ideas and cooperate more; meanwhile, the independent style of UIC student organization could be promoted and bring greater advantage.
 
During the dinner, the student representatives discussed about issues such as "What is the most difficult problem student leaders face, and what shall we do?", "What kind of student leaders shall we be?" and so on. Liu Qiang, vice minister of Public Relations Department of Student Union of Sun Yat-sen university, expatiated personnel management of student organizations in two phrase, "generalship" and "the talented". He pointed out that, as a student leader, the most important thing was assigning people of various talents to suitable positions to get things done effectively. Ding Yang, head of Learning Department of BITZ, claimed that only sustainable self-improvement could help to gain true respect from fellow students. Representatives from other universities also expressed their opinions.
 
Edgar Yuen, associate professor of UIC International Journalism, spoke highly of the student leader forum and gave suggestions to students: university life was a socialization process, however, students should avoid being restrained by social factors, instead, students should explore meaning to the maximum extend with an open mindset.
  
Attendance student representatives were satisfied with the forum. Chen Yingying, vice chairman of Jinan University Student Union said: "Student orgarnizations need opportunities like this to experience diversified campus cultures, for stduents from different colleges have different cultrural ethos." A student from UIC Student Union Liaison Department said: "A good leader should good at caring and listening, this is what I learnt." Lee Ching-lung, Chairman of BNUZ Student Union, said the event was a good reference for their work improvement in future.
