In July, 2010, seven UIC students had a three-month internship at Watsons Guangzhou this summer. Their performance received good reviews from the management of Watsons.
The seven students were arranged in different departments, two of them worked in Department of Human Resource, one was in the Department of Marketing, and four were in the Department of Property.
Kong Qin from year-four Applied Economics worked for the Property Department. He told the reporter that the three-month summer at Watsons was really impressive and beneficial. In Watsons, he gradually learnt to know himself and improved a lot in communication skills. He said, what he did everyday was different, and it was richer than what they saw in the job description. "Experience bravely and live happily", this is what he learnt from the internship, said Kong.
Liujun Chen, who worked in the Department of Marketing, said, she was very excited about the summer internship. She took part in a cooperative plan between Watsons and Ruli. Though she felt stressful in those days, she rapidly obtained a good understanding of what she did. Liu said Watsons would be a good choice to start off her career after graduation.
Mr. Giff Searls, Manager of UIC International Corporate Development, spoke highly about the seven students' performance and he said the summer internship was successful. Mr. Searls showed the reporter an email from Vivienne Wong, Director of Watsons Human Resource Department. In this email, Vivienne Wong was very satisfied with the students' performance. Mr. Searls said this successful summer internship deepen and strengthen the cooperation relationship between UIC and Watsons. Watsons has expressed their interest in an alliance with UIC, which incorporates students and Watsons employee development in conjunction with WPEO.
