UIC held a welcome party for new students at the Campus Cultural Square on the evening of September 15th, with hundreds of students attending. The party themed "UIC grows with you" showcased a variety of programmes, including vocal solo, hip-hop dance and belly dance, band show, etc.
Many student associations such as the Taekwondo Association, Roller-skating Association, Two-section Stick Association, also showed excellent performances. Among them, the taekwondo association of BNU displayed their kongfu skills. Side kick, push kick and many other movements showed the audience a feast for eyes.
The audience enjoyed the show very much. They waved their light sticks to the rhythm of the music, and shouted out names of their performers and their academic programmes.
Zuo xirong, head of the Department of Entertainment of the Student Union, said that they aimed at providing entertainment for the freshmen and helping them adapt to the new environment. Apart from this, new students would be able to have a better understanding of UICers. He also expressed his sincerely gratitude to the participants and volunteers who offered great assistance. "Without everybody's help, we may not be able to deliver this activity successfully."
