777 UIC Graduates Received HKBU Bachelor’s Degrees

Over 500 UIC graduates attended the 51st HKBU Commencement Ceremony on 13th November. The graduates received their Bachelor's Degrees from Prof. Albert Chen, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, while parents looked on with pride and warm applause. It was the second time for UIC graduates to be part of the graduating class at HKBU. In total, 777 UIC graduates were awarded their Bachelor's Degrees.

Tea receptions were held for UIC graduates and parents at different programmes that day. Prof. Albert Chan and Prof. Ng Ching-fai, President of UIC, spoke to guests respectively. Mr. Zhong Yijun, Director of Zhuhai Education Department, Charitarian Mr. Feng Sunkwan, Prof. Kwok Siu-tong, UIC Executive Vice President, Prof. Zee Sze-yong, UIC Vice President, Prof. Zhang Cong, UIC Vice President, Prof Zhang Genfa, UIC Academic Registrar, Ms. Lillian Li, Chief of Development, Division Deans and teachers were also present.

The 777 UIC graduates were from 12 programmes. By June 2010, over half of the graduates were admitted by postgraduate schools in HK and abroad, among which nearly a hundred got admission from world famous colleges including Duke University, University of Cambridge, University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Many graduates obtained placement offers from worldwide reputable multinational corporations, joint-ventures, state-owned enterprises, and government organizations, among them the Big Four accounting firms, the Standard Chartered Bank of Hong Kong, South China Daily, etc.

Zhang Chao, a graduate in International Journalism said she had a most memorable four-year college life at UIC. UIC offered students with extensive vision and various opportunities to choose a career. She said: "We are able to break the shackles of mind and see a distinct world at UIC." Sun Yao-hua of PRA made a special trip from Australia to attend the commencement ceremony and express her hearty thanks to UIC for the fruitful four years in Zhuhai.

Some parents were appreciative of UIC's education model. Students benefited from Whole Person Education and practice, which was very helpful to build up a positive and wholesome personality for students' further development. Graduates from UIC possess comprehensive a strong ability in communication and teamwork, which is a significant advantage in the job market.
