Dr. Henry Guo, assistant professor of TESL, received an award from Zhuhai Radio Station on Dec 25 for being one of the 10 figures who have contributed to Zhuhai's Express City Transportation in 2010.
Dr. Guo was elected out of 158 candidates by public voting, according to the report by Zhuhai TV station. (click here for the video report)
"Under huge pressure of sustainable development, biking is really beneficial to the individual and environment. Thus I keep biking and attach flags on my bike to promote ‘clean air' and ‘green transportation'. I believe that many people are aware of this, but they are hesitating in front of some difficulties. As a matter of fact, I also encountered some difficulties, but I managed to overcome. Now I am in the age of forty-something, but when I am on my bike, I feel like twenty-something", said Dr Guo when receiving interview from Zhuhai TV.
When asked if Zhuhai is suitable for such a promotion, Dr. Guo answered confidently that "Zhuhai is a perfect city for that. If half of the workers in Zhuhai chose to go to work by bike, as in some European cities, it would bring Zhuhai a worldwide reputation."
