A delegation of the Joint Institute of Research Studies (HKBU) and the representative of the Production& Research Department of Zhuhai Municipal Government visited UIC on November 26. They shared their achievements of postgraduate education and research, and discussed further research cooperation between Hong Kong and Zhuhai higher education institutions.

Prof. Ng Ching-fai, President of UIC, delivered a welcome speech and expressed positive visions of research cooperation between HKBU and UIC. Prof. Kwok Siu-tong, Executive Vice President of UIC said:" UIC is an infant, who is not proficient at research. HKBU and the Government are strong supports of UIC in conducting researches. A multi-party cooperation and communication would enhance the development of UIC research institutes." Prof Kwok also briefed the attendance about the current development of JIRS (UIC).

As for the shortage of research funds, Prof. Zee Sye-yong, Vice President of UIC, hoped that HKBU and UIC would have more research projects in cooperation and compete for more national and local economic supports.
Prof. Tang Tao, Associate Vice President/Director of the Graduate School, introduced the Graduate School and research institutes of HKBU in detail.
Prof. Zhang Genfa, Academic Registrar/Director of Research Office, made a report on the sources of research funds for national, provincial and municipal research projects and the current status of research funds at UIC.
Mr. Lin Lijian, an official of the Production and Research Department of Zhuhai Municipal Government talked about the general situation of Production & Research Department and its support policy, and the support policy of the provincial Production & Research Department.
