On the evening of 17th February, a party was held at the Cultural Village to celebrate the Chinese traditional Lantern Festival.  Prof. Ng Ching-fai addressed the party

During the opening remarks, UIC President Prof. Ng Ching-fai said that the Lantern Festival was an important and romantic festival for Chinese people. He hoped that through participation, Chinese and foreign students alike could know more about traditional Chinese culture. Later, students and foreign teachers gave many brilliant performances, including opera, a Chinese song sung in French, "Memory" with violin, "Country Road" with guitar, street dance and flash.

A special lantern arranged with candles with letters "UIC" attracted many to have a photo with it. Every participant got a beautiful and delicate mask at the beginning. With the number on it, they could try their fortune to win a gift in the lucky draw.
