Published on 21 February 2011

A group of thirteen UIC students participated in a one-month internship at Watsons in Guangzhou starting from 11 January. All of them are year-four students except one was in year-two. They served in positions such as Finance Assistant, Marketing Assistant and Property Assistant in different departments. Autumn Zhuang, a year-four student from Accounting Programme was offered a two-month extension of paid-internship, and is likely to get a placement offer afterwards. This was the second time Watsons cooperated with UIC in internship and placement.

Autumn Zhuang worked at the Internal Audit Department at Watsons. She said her job was quite closely related to what she learned at UIC as an Accounting student, and that she liked the young and energetic working atmosphere at Watsons. She also expressed her gratitude to Mr. Giff Searls, Project Manager of ACDO, for organizing the internship with Watsons and visiting them during their internship.

Vivienne, HR Coordinator of Watsons, said UIC students generally gave a good performance at Watsons. She emphasized that attitude was the most important aspect for a new face at the job market. She also suggested that students who plan to work instead of pursuing further education would have priority to obtain internship opportunities at Watsons.
