UIC hosted a farewell party on 26th August on Prof. Edmond Kwok for his retirement from the position of Executive Vice President of UIC. President C.F Ng and a number of colleagues from different departments attended and bade farewell to Prof. Kwok.
In his remarks, President Ng recalled the day when he and Prof. Kwok came to the campus to welcome the first batch of students, and thanked Prof. Kwok for his devoted service in the past six years. Prof. Ng said:” We are now entering the second phase of development at UIC, I am sure that Edmund’s contribution and that of all of you here should be well recognized. On behalf of the college I would like to offer our good wishes to Edmund to have a very rewarding period of retirement. We will always welcome him back to the campus to see us and to participate in the activities of the college.”

As a token of appreciation, Prof. Ng also presented Prof. Kwok a piece of delicate jade carving as souvenir on behalf of the college.
In a speech that followed, Prof. Kwok said: “This is time for celebration; we should congratulate each other on the work we have done and the challenges we have overcome. We have done it together. Without all of you, UIC wouldn’t have been able to have developed to such a position as we are in now. I am very honored to be able to be chosen for the job by Prof. Ng six years ago. This is a time for me to express my deepest appreciation to all of you, especially to Prof. Xu Jialu, Prof. Ng, Prof. Zee and to other colleagues who have left the college. We are now in a strategic juncture and I am sure Prof Ng will bring the college to a new level. It is the earnest hope of all of us that we will be able to say we are one of the best colleges of the country. I wish you all the best and wish the college all the best in the future. Whatever kind feelings that we have for each other will stay on forever.”
