The drizzle continued as president of UIC, Prof. Ng Ching-Fai, announced the commencement of UIC’s 6th Annual Sports Day on Thursday, 29 November 2012. “Although this is set up as a sports meeting, it feels more like a family party.” Prof. Ng said in the opening speech.

Students and staff themselves ran out of superlatives to describe the spectacular “family party” on the Drill Ground of Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai campus. The number of participants this year was at a record high with approximately 300 students and 100 staff competing in 29 events, including 17 individual events, 7 team competitive events and an additional 5 team popular events.

The Sports Day welcomed new developments, such as entrance entertainment by cheerleading squads from different majors who worked hard to best exemplify their unique spirits. This was followed by hilarious performances from the cheerleaders and then the UIC Dragon and Lion Dance Team performed. Some students associations also entertained the audience with little games, which produced a continuous roar of laughter from the spectators at the “family party”.
