The UIC student lion dancing team celebrated the New Year by performing a spectacular lion dance show at the Student Hostel & Cultural Village for the Second UIC Charity Cup on 25 February 2013. The show aimed at collecting donations for charity and extending good wishes.
The lion dance, traditional Chinese folk art, is a symbol of prosperity
The donations are collected to help students of the Jinfeng School, Zhuhai
The lion picks the green plants, representing peace, a good harvest and happiness
The donations began early on 19 February in front of the student dormitories, among which the UIC Charity Cup will be given to the one receiving the highest amount of donations
The UIC Charity Cup goes to the Liberal Education Hall, whose warden, Dr. Lee Hock Ming (the first one from right), and student representative (middle) are awarded by Prof. Zhang Cong, Vice President of UIC
