UIC's faculty members who give lessons to the Zhuhai English teachers introduce themselves at the opening ceremony of the training programme. |
After four summers of successful English Teachers Training Programmes (ETTP), the Zhuhai Municipal Education Bureau and UIC have decided to extend the duration and strengthen the influence of the programme.
The fifth ETTP attracts around 90 teachers from Zhuhai’s primary and secondary schools, started on 18 December and will end next June.

These specially selected teachers will have classes, attend lectures and salons, and receive in-class advice by UIC faculty and others at the College and relevant schools, combining the training and practical teaching for enhanced effect, said Zhang Liyun, Deputy Director of the Education Research Centre in Zhuhai Municipal Education Bureau.
UIC Associate Vice President Prof Lilian Kwan emphasised the importance of English in international communication and hopes that by offering this chance, UIC will help the teachers improve themselves.
The ETTP focuses on English proficiency, teaching skills and teachers' overall quality, Director of UIC’s Centre for Advanced Professional Studies Mr Michael Ching announced when introducing the programme at the opening ceremony.

Shortly after the opening, the trainees had their first lesson given by UIC faculty members.

Those who complete the programme will receive a certificate by UIC.
