Lecture on high-quality development of education and social responsibilities

UIC held the lecture titled 'High-quality Development of Education and the Social Responsibilities of the UICers' on 27 May. This lecture is part of the Contemporary World and China Lecture Series.

UIC's Party Secretary and Vice President (Administration), Prof Mao Yaqing, was the distinguished speaker and Director of UIC's Chinese Language and Culture Centre, Prof Wu Hongyu, was the host.

High-quality development has been a hot topic of China's economic and social development. To echo the new concerns, the lecture included sub-topics: our understanding of the high-quality development of education and how UIC as an educational institute and its students respond to this era.

According to Prof Mao, educational institutes should focus on the quantity and the quality of talents when evaluating educational outcomes. Also, with a focus on developing innovation ability and historical responsibility of students. He also emphasised that the actual value of education is to cultivate social talents with good physical health, a sound mind, and positive emotion.
