UIC Rugby team achieves third place in championship competition

The China University Sports Association hosted the 8th 7-on-7 rugby championship for Chinese college students between the 28 and 30 at the Tangshan Jiujiang Sports Centre in Hebei Province.

A total of 234 rugby student-athletes from 20 teams all over China participated in the competition. The UIC Rugby team stood out in the contest and won third place.

The candidate teams were divided into two groups, Group A and Group C. The final places were decided through two stages of competitions, including a group round-robin and an elimination round.

Comprised of 12 members, the UIC Rugby team participated in the men's competition, group A, led by the coach, Mr Gao Peng. The team scored multiple touchdowns against the opponent teams again and came third place in the end.

Established in 2006, the UIC Rugby team has participated in this championship for six consecutive years and has earned several achievements.
