Graduation Speech - Chen Ziye

Published on 9 June 2025

Hello everyone, I’m Chen Ziye, a senior student from the Media Arts and Design programme here at BNBU.

Four years ago, I arrived at this campus filled with questions—about my future, about design, and even about myself. Today, I may still have questions, but I’ve also found direction, courage, and confidence.

BNBU has been more than a school for me. It has been a place where I explored ideas, made mistakes, and slowly discovered what kind of person I want to become. Through studio classes, cross-major collaborations, and real-world projects, I’ve learned that media design is not just about visuals; it’s about creating meaning and connection.

One of the best parts of being here was having so many chances to participate. From class projects to public exhibitions, and from student events to university outreach, I’ve always tried to be involved. These experiences taught me how to express ideas, work with others, and take responsibility—not only as a student but also as a communicator.

I’m especially thankful for the professors who encouraged me to try new things and for the classmates who inspired me with their creativity.

As I look ahead, I know I’m still exploring my path, but I’m sure of one thing: wherever I go, I’ll carry the knowledge, values, and spirit of BNBU with me. I hope to keep learning, stay curious, and find ways to use design to serve others and tell meaningful stories.

BNBU didn’t just teach me how to design—it taught me how to listen, how to care, and how to find purpose in what I create. These are the lessons I will always hold on to.

No matter where life takes me next, I’ll always be proud to say that I was shaped by this place, supported by these people, and inspired by these years. Thank you, BNBU—for helping me become who I am today.
