According to the current design, the dormitory contains two bedrooms, one living room and a balcony with an indoor area of 45.36 m² (not including corridors and public spaces). Every residence hall is equipped with a 24-hour study room, a laundry room on each floor, and common areas for cooking and dining with induction cookers and refrigerators.

President of UIC Prof Tang Tao attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. He expressed gratitude for everyone's efforts and said that the topping out of the residence halls signified that UIC had started a new chapter of its "3.0 version", evolving from the "1.0 version" on Jinfeng Road and the "2.0 version" on Jintong Road.

The building area of around 400,000 square metres at the second-phase campus will form three clusters of scientific research buildings, teaching blocks and residence halls, accommodating 6,000 students and 1,000 staff members. UIC will work towards building a university town with the historical Huitong Village in the future.
