Vice Mayor of Zhuhai Wang Qingli visited UIC on Teachers’ Day

On September 10th, the 25th Chinese Teachers' Day, a delegation headed by Mr. Wang Qingli,Vice Mayor of Zhuhai visited UIC, and sent their greetings to the teaching and administrative staffs of UIC.

Prof. Kwok SiuTong, Executive Vice-President, welcomed the guests with other staffs representatives. He also thanked the Zhuhai municipal government and the vice mayor for their support and encouragement. Prof. Kwok said the establishment of UIC is unique and unprecedented. International teachers account for over 70% of the teaching staff, making UIC a highly internationalized college.

Mr. Wang Qingli thanked UIC teachers for their hard work and congratulated them on their teaching and research achievements. The vice mayor said, although UIC is young, it has made outstanding contributions to the education industry of Zhuhai, and also Guangdong. He said Zhuhai and the University Park of Zhuhai accord great importance to the development of UIC, and will provide the best service for UIC.

Associate Professor Dave Towey, Program Coordinator of TESL UIC, became the first foreigner to win the Zhuhai "Outstanding Teacher Award" in 2007, this year, another two teachers from our college won this award, they are Dr. ZHEN, Yong Kevin from the Division of Business and management, and Associate Professor Yuen, K.W Edgar  from the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. The vice mayor presented them the award. Besides, on behalf of the Zhuhai municipal government, Mr. Wang Qingli presented a sum of consolation money to UIC teachers.
