UIC Competition Teams achieved outstanding results in the First Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) Qualification Program Case Analysis Competition in Beijing on the 5th of December.

Out of over 300 teams, a total of eight were selected for the final competition in Beijing, with two of UIC teams being chosen. The UIC teams were the only teams selected from the Southern China including all universities in HK and Macau. The rest of the 8 teams were from other parts of China.
In the final competition, the winner and first place went to Tsinghua University. Our team led by Wang Ziyuan won the second place (first runner-up) award. The third place (second runner-up) was taken by Peking University. Our second team led by Yin Tingting won the Award of Merit which was the fourth place. The first runner-up team was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of RBM10,000 and the Merit Team also won a cash prize of RMB2,500. In the competition, both UIC teams performed with high quality of English proficiency and professional presentation skills.
This was the first time that HKICPA held the Qualification Program Case Analysis Competition in Mainland China.
The eight award winning UIC team members are Wang Ziyuan, Chen Peiyin, Lin Chenjing from the Finance Program, Xu Yeting from Applied Economics, He Yuzi, Yin Tingting, xu Manping, and Zeng Tao from Accounting. During the interview, they revealed that they felt the pressure when they knew the other six teams were all from prominent universities like Tsinghua University, Peking University,yet they stuck it out. It had been their busiest term since they entered the college three years ago. Most of them stayed up late frequently in order to prepare for this competition. They also expressed their gratitude to their professional teachers, CTV students and teachers, and teachers from the English Language Center.
The team manager and Dean of Division of Business and Management Prof. Stella Cho and the team advisor Prof. Joseph Liang said UIC provided a lot of valuable resources that helped them get through to the finals, namely: experience sharing from the Accounting Program, a professional video production team, and excellent English speaking skills.
Prof. S.T. Kwok highly commended the UIC competition teams. He said: "They have proved to the world that with proper guidance and support, they can match any leading universities in the country. We must heartily congratulate them for having brought honor to the College. "
The winner teams will make a presentation to share their experience this Wednesday, from 12:00pm-1:00pm at B101. During the presentation, they will do the case analysis presentation again, and Prof. Kwok and Prof. Zee will present prizes to the winning teams respectively.
