The activity started at 8:30pm, lights in a lot of dormitories were switched off and the whole cultural village was flickering with candle lights and fluorescent rods. Dozens of candles formed the numeral "60" at the ground, which meant 60 minutes of low-carbon style of life. Light doodles, movie shows, candlelight get-togethers and other relaxing games were also carried out, which lent harmony and happiness to the whole cultural village.

Programme Coordinator of Environmental Science Professor Ruan Huada gave an opening address. He stated that, it was the first time UIC took responsibility of leading the way towards a sustainable low-carbon future. He hoped that UIC students could carry on this campaign in the future. Associate Director of UIC Student Affairs Office Mr. Li Junyang said, human beings came to know how important being harmony with nature was, which marked a big step towards sustainable development. Student representatives from UIC Hostel Association and UIC Green Bridge Association also delivered speeches on this topic.

The activity was organized by the Students' Learning Communities Development Team of Student Affairs Office, UIC Hostel Association and UIC Green Bridge Association.
