A.S. Watsons Provides Placement and Internship Posts

Organized by Admission and Career Development Office, a delegation from A.S Watsons, one of the largest health and beauty retailers in the world, headed by Ms Joanne Chen, Senior HR Manager of A.S Watsons Guangzhou Head Office, delivered a career talk at UIC on May 14th. The delegation brought to UIC students 6 placement posts with 12 vacancies and 3 internship posts.

Associate Vice President Dr. Wendy Chan, Dean of Division of Business and Management Prof. Stella Cho, Director of Admission and Career Development Office Dr. Kevin Zhen were in attendance.  Associate Director of Student Career Development Office Mr. Giff Searls hosted the career talk.

Prof. Stella Cho delivered a welcoming address. She mentioned that UIC was developing career alliances with a number of famous companies and public intuitions like A.S. Watsons, hopefully this would provide UIC students good internship and placement opportunities.  Dr. Wendy Chan gave the guests a brief introduction of UIC and presented Watsons' representatives souvenirs. Ms. Joanne Chen from Watsons talked about their corporate culture, business, strategy and recruitment, "our vision is to be one of the top employers that sustain continuous business growth in China.  Therefore, we provide functional and substantial training to our staff."

After the introduction of Watsons, a student forum was held. Meanwhile, 12 out of 60 UIC students who had applied for internships at Watsons were interviewed by Ms Vivienne Wang, Staff Manager. After the interview, Ms. Wang expressed her appreciation for UIC students: "In my opinion, UIC students are very proactive during the interview. I highly appreciate their confidence when they speak English,"

The result of the interview would be released in the coming two weeks.  The selected candidates would be able to get a final interview in Guangzhou. For placement posts, UIC students could directly apply online.
