UIC held its 1st College Research Grant Principal Investigator Meeting on May 13, 2010. The purpose of the meeting was to brief on the guideline of the College Research Grant Project Undertaking Form and how the fund would be used. UIC Executive Vice President Prof. Siu-Tong Kwok, Chairman of Research Coordinating Committee Prof. Kai-Tai Fang and Academic Registrar Prof. Genfa Zhang attended the meeting and made speeches.

The College Research Grant received 36 applications and 31 of them had been approved. Among these approved applications, 13 of them were from the field of Science and Technology, 8 from the field of Business and Management and 10 from the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Prof. Kai-Tai Fang reviewed the situation of College Research Grant and announced that in the future, every September or October would be the application period.
EVP Prof. Siu-Tong Kwok emphasized on his speech that UIC attached great attention to scientific research, "We are not bureaucracy. We are here to support you." He said that teachers should regard this funding as seed money for research and access research academically. The college would require the deans, program coordinators and directors of research institutes to provide help.
