In terms of the relationship between the two countries, "We have some ups, and we still have some downs, but the overall trend is rising", according to Mr. Goldback. He said that channels for cooperation and communication between the two countries are increasing, especially the education parts. "The more we know each other, the more we hear and say to each other, the more it helps to promote the relationship between U.S and China."

Mr. Goldbeck stressed that he fully agreed with UIC's concept on innovational education. He shared his experience as a former high school teacher: "In order to stimulate innovation awareness, my students are encouraged to play their imagination to come up with new ideas and new ways of thinking. Regardless of the practical significance of their ideas, the more important thing is to free their minds."

At the end of the lecture, Mr. Goldbeck had active interaction with UIC students. On being queried about the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou denying some applications from Chinese students to study in America. The Consul General said that students must comply with four conditions to get the student visa. First, enough reasons to go abroad; second, good reason to come back; third, financial support for the education; fourth, accurate and truthful information. Anyone who fulfill these requirements will be given a visa.
