The largest HKBU Postgraduate Programmes Information Day cum Opening Ceremony was held at UIC

The second HKBU Postgraduate Programmes Information Day cum Opening Ceremony was held on November 27th. It was the largest one ever at UIC. Fifteen postgraduate programmes were open for application. More than 1000 students and parents from the Pearl River Delta Region came and attended on-spot consultation and briefing sessions.

Professor Ng Ching-Fai, President of UIC; Professor TANG Tao, Associate Vice President and Director of Graduate School of HKBU; Professor ZEE Sze Yong, Vice President of UIC; and Professor Stella Cho, Dean of DBM in UIC officiated at the opening ceremony.

Professor Ng Ching -Fai Ng said in his speech that postgraduate programmes study could not only expand one's horizons but also improve one's comprehensive competitiveness, which would be beneficial for career development. The purpose of the event is to provide an open communication platform for students and parents on the Pearl River Delta Region to acquire more systematic and comprehensive understanding about the postgraduate programmes of HKBU.

Professor TANG Tao, Associate Vice President of HKBU, Director of Graduate School, expressed HKBU's aspiration to train high-level talents from Mainland China. He stressed that HKBU focused much on enhancing students' comprehensive capacity. As a response to the trend of Mainland Chinese students pursue further study in Hong Kong, two more HKBU-UIC joint offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou would be opened to offer better services. Meanwhile, HKBU will strengthen cooperation with UIC on innovation and creative education to contribute the development of Zhuhai.

The Information Day generated active response rose from audiences. A junior girl from Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai said she had been preparing to study in Hong Kong for a long time and this event helped a lot. Present parents found the on-spot consultance and briefing sessions offered lots of valuable information on postgraduate study needed from their children. They hope there would be more activities like this in the future.
