Wonderful Performance

The story of “Legend” depicts a pilgrimage life of Lance, a sailor who set out to seek his goal in the sea. He encountered a ship wreck but was saved by the people in an island “Homeshire”. Later he fell in love with Cassidy, the daughter of the chief of the village. However Hulbert was also in love with Cassidy and he was very jealous of Lance. The chief and Hulbert tried to stop Lance and Cassidy’s love. The heartbroken sailor decided to set off his journey to the sea again. After one year, Siren and her plague bringers set off a plague in the island and many villagers got sick, including Cassidy. Finally Cassidy died and during her funeral, Lance came back to the island and he was very sad. The chief decided it was Lance’s fault and believed he brought the plague to the island that killed his daughter. He ordered to burn him. Luckily he was saved by his friend Gemini. At the same time, Cassidy was miraculously revived and they met for the last time. Lance decided to follow his calling and go on his journey again to the sea to defeat the Siren.

Impressive Story

This musical was the dream of a second year CTV student, Jonathan Au. He had great passion in music since he was a little boy, and started composing songs several years ago. After became a UIC student, he got big support from his schoolmates to create a musical. “Legend” is actually his belief in life: if you have dream, you should devote 100% to fulfill it, despite difficulties and dangers. He wholly wrote the script, the storyline, the music, and the lyrics, even arranged the music himself.

President Ng and Teachers Express Congratulations

After the performance, “Legend” supervisor Ms. Sandra Lau was interviewed. She expressed great joy and satisfaction, and she was proud of the students not only because they performed so well, but also they did it with very limited resources and time. All the difficulties and hardship could only make them grow stronger and tougher. She believed the experience they had will surely help them in the future after college. The perfect performance they had that evening is clear evidence.
