UIC partnered with Zhuhai officials organised a symposium on June 30 to chant a new course for social management and development in an attempt to explore innovative solutions for mounting pressure on administrative and social issues.
In his welcoming speech at the symposium, President Ng Ching Fai, on behalf of co-organisers, thanked scholars and experts who have come from Singapore, Hong Kong and the mainland to offer new idea and proposals in their perspective fields.
Among them were Prof. Johnston Wong, Acting Program Coordinator of Social Work and Social Administration Programme of UIC; Prof. Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore; Prof. Chen Wuqiang, Dean of SIM University in Singapore; Mr. Ng Wang Tsang of the Andy Society of Rehabilitation & Crime Prevention in Hong Kong; Mr. Ng Shui-Lai, Honorary Fellow of Hong Kong Baptist University; Mr. Han Dongxue, Vice Dean of Tsinghua University School of Marxism; and Prof. Cai He, Dean of Sociology at Sun Yat-sen University.
Vice Secretary Jiao Lansheng, Mayor He Ningka, Vice Secretary Wang Yanshi, officials of Hengqin New Area and related government departments, districts, towns and sub-district attended to the symposium.
It was hoped that the meeting would offer a basis for future guidelines and solutions in social management and would promote democratic self-governance in Zhuhai.
