The foreign students receive the orientation programme
Seven foreign students have arrived at UIC for the new semester.
They have come to UIC either within the framework of UIC’s cooperation agreements with universities around the world or from personal choice.

Ye Jin KIM, who seeks a bachelor degree here at UIC, revealed her anticipation of the coming four year study:
“I’ve lived in the Philippines for eight years, and I learned English there. After that I wanted to learn another language, Chinese.
“My major is CTV (Cinema and Television Programme). I want to study more about films. I’m also preparing for an exchange with UIC’s sister college in Korea. I want to live in Korea [in the future] because I have spent too much time outside of my country since elementary school.”

One of the exchange students is Swedish. Christoffer Birch-Jensen, who now studies at UIC, came here from his studies at Concordia College in the U.S. He said he liked the beautiful surroundings and clear sky in Zhuhai, despite the hot and humid weather.
“I have travelled to China before. I have a minor focused on Chinese, so I can speak a little Chinese.
“[I came to UIC because] I would be able to improve my Chinese by living in China, and at the same time continue taking courses in English towards my business degree. UIC was recommended by my school,” he said.

Melissa Mignon comes from France. She was studying Food Engineering in Lille, but she is going to take business classes at UIC. Speaking of why she chose such a change, she said: “[At UIC taking] the business classes were exactly what I wanted to do. In the future I want to do business with China.”
She has enjoyed Chinese food since she came. The dormitory and campus have also made a good impression on her.
“I want to learn about Chinese culture and society, and make Chinese friends too,” she added.
By far the incoming students have finished the orientation programme, and are preparing for their new life at UIC.
