
Dragon dance waves in the sky at the opening of UIC’s sports day
On the sunny morning of 28 November, the parades of flag-bearers, students, referees and staff marched and gave dynamic performances on sports ground track, inaugurating UIC’s 7th Annual Sports Day.

“UIC advocates a sports culture in its education. The key to holding the sports meeting is calling on students to participate and enjoy their campus life, and at the same time, reinforcing the relationship with their teachers. I hope everyone can savour the sports carnival today,” said UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai in the opening ceremony.
The sports meeting covered 17 individual, seven team and five popular events, including the long jump, the 4×100 metres relay and four-people-five-feet.

Breathtaking races |
Student Xia Tong won the men’s 100 metre race and high jump. He said that in the running he focused only on the finish line. “Even though I was not well prepared, I was composed and did my best.”

Women’s 800 metres winner Deng Wenwen said: “In the course of long distance running, we go through a period of hard time. What we really need is faith and persistence.”

Ms Sue Xiaoshu Li, Administrative Assistant of the Research Office, finished the first in women’s 800 meters of staff group. She showed great confidence and said, “I was a sports fan at college, so it is not hard for me to win the race.”

Little games and services are offered to the audience
The sports day ended with glory to all the winners and fun to all the others.
