Awards for their excellence in academic performance during the Academic Year 2012-2013, were presented to 268 UIC students at the annual Scholarship Presentation Ceremony on 12 March, 2014. The scholarships totalled RMB 2.24 million.

Special scholarships for Guangdong and Hong Kong students
In 2013, UIC established special scholarships for students from Guangdong Province and particularly from Zhuhai City, who have been admitted on the basis of the new Comprehensive Evaluation Admission System.
In early 2014, UIC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Association of Hong Kong Chinese Middle Schools to launch the School Principal’s Nomination Scheme and the School Principal’s Nomination Bursaries Scheme. Awardees can receive 50% tuition grants for up to four years, based on continuously good academic results.
In his address, UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai said: “Every spring season we hold this Scholarship and Awards Presentation event with the conviction that our hard work will be rewarded in due course. We will always have Faith and Hope incorporated in our pursuit of wisdom and knowledge, assured that one day they will bear fruits for the benefit of all mankind.”
Three students were given another Renewal of the Full Entrance Scholarship they originally received in 2011, 31 students won a 2013 Special Scholarship for Zhuhai Students, and three Hong Kong students received an Admission Scholarship for Outstanding Students in 2013 (Hong Kong).
The First Class Award went to 60 students, and the Second Class Award to 126 students from different divisions.

A number of special scholarships were also presented. The Prof Herbert Tsang Scholarship went to four students for excelling in overall academics; the Prof Xu Jialu Whole Person Education Award, was given to 20 students who were outstanding in Whole Person Education; and the Mr Fung Sun Kwan Scholarship of Excellence, awarded to 12 students for their achievement in the study of Chinese culture and society.

Additionally, eight students received the 2013 Full Entrance Scholarship which they had been awarded last August; and a student was awarded a Renewal of the Mr and Mrs Franco Cutrupia Mainland Students Scholarship from last academic year.

A Year Four student from the Public Relations and Advertising Programme Lin Yaxin received a First Class Award for the second time and a Prof Xu Jialu Whole Person Education Award. She said receiving scholarships encourages her not only to acquire more knowledge, but also to become a responsible citizen.
