Hundreds of alumni, students and staff gathered together at UIC to celebrate the third Homecoming Day on 17 October.
Bursting with excitement, more than 500 alumni came back to their old school on its tenth anniversary. Some were accompanied by their family and friends. They wandered around the campus, recalled the past, met their former teachers and attended a variety of activities in honour of the meaningful day.
“The biggest achievement of UIC is all of you,” UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai said whilst welcoming the graduates. “You are showing your extraordinary abilities and excellent accomplishments in different places of the world, whether you are at work or abroad for further study.”
Alumni took part in a Ceremony to Pay Respect to Teachers, an ancient Chinese tradition where they served tea to the teachers with deep reverence and gratitude.

Four alumni shared their experiences in their fields of work and study with younger students. They included what UIC gave to them and how that has helped them to chase their dreams.
“UIC is changing and developing every year. I’m glad to see that it has become more mature in every aspect,” said Zijian Wang, who was in one of the first batches of graduates from the International Journalism Programme.
Some other events took place during the day, including a basketball match and football matches between alumni, students and staff. Also, the Alumni Council held a meeting to discuss how to manage alumni associations.
Organised by the Four-Point Education Coordination Office and Human Resources Office, the Homecoming Day ended up with an evening party, where participants sang, danced and enjoyed themselves in a pleasant environment.
