On 13 October UIC hosted its first Hall High Table Dinner of the 2015-2016 Academic Year. This dinner was held in honour of those involved in the leadership of UIC’s eight halls. The event was hosted by Student Affairs Office and co-hosted by Four-Point Education Coordination Office. The speech topic for this event focused on “How you can help to further strengthen UIC’s hall culture”.

The event started with a light tea reception for the attending guests. After the attending hall wardens and student hall officers were seated and the honoured guests introduced by Professor Johnston Wong, Cheif of Student Affairs and the master of ceremonies for the night; the guests were treated to a musical performance by students.
Professor Ng Ching-Fai, President of UIC, started the speeches off by thanking the attending Hall Wardens and Student Hall Officers for their hard work, especially for their efforts towards building a more beneficial hall culture in UIC. He also encouraged students to spend this semester focusing on interpersonal communication, emphasizing his point by ending his speech with “communicate, communicate, communicate”.

In addition to the night’s speakers the list of honoured guests included Prof Cong Zhang, Vice President, Mr Nelson Chan, Managing Director for Financial Planning and Development, Dr Haipeng Guo, Director of Whole Person Education Office, and Prof Mildred Yang, Director of General Education Office.
The night continued with speeches from Vice President Prof Zee Sze Yong as well as by representatives of the hall wardens and officers.

After a Question and Answer Session, each hall’s chosen student representative lined up to receive certificates recognising the efforts of the Hall Officers to better UIC.

Each warden then received a commemorative plaque for their continued support for the students and commitment to a whole person education.

After the awards were completed the dinner began. The night ended with a toast by the honoured guests and then the dinner dispersed.
