On 6 September 2018, the International Development Office (IDO) held a luncheon for all new and returning foreign intern staff to welcome them to the new semester at UIC.

Director of the IDO, Dr Katharina Yu, introduced President of UIC Prof Ng Ching-Fai, Vice President Prof Chen Zhi, and Associate Vice President Prof Lilian Kwan.
She then introduced the Deans and Directors of each department: Dean of DHSS Prof Sung Mei-hwa, Dean of DST Prof Stephen Chung, Dean of DCC Prof Brian Clarke, Director of WPEO Prof Guo Haipeng, Director of ELC Dr Viola Wong, Acting Director of GEO Dr Milen Jissov and Director of MPRO Mr Chai Hi-Hing.

Prof Ng gave a short speech where he greeted the interns and wished everyone a great experience at UIC.

Academy of Continuing Education (ACE) Foreign Intern Mohamad Hamdan described the lunch as “An enlightening experience [with] great discussions”, before adding that it had been “A very warm welcome with some delicious food.”
This event was organised by the IDO and was used as an icebreaking event to make the foreign interns, as well as UIC faculty members become more familiar with each other.
