Secretary of CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress, Mr Guo Yonghang, praised UIC on its educational achievements and its pioneering role in the higher education cooperation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area during his visit to UIC on 29 May.

The guests toured the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), the Sports Complex, student hostels and Yayue Hall, during which Mr Guo learnt more about UIC’s programmes, talents cultivation, scientific innovation as well as other details from UIC’s senior management, students and faculty members.

Mr Guo emphasized that UIC could seize the opportunity of the Greater Bay Area development and form a high-level talent cultivation system, as a way to support the accelerated development of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone.
He said it is of great significance to further develop UIC, and also that the Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the CPC along with the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government will increase their support for the College.

At the meeting with UIC’s senior management, UIC President Prof Tang Tao briefed Mr Guo and other guests about the construction of UIC’s new campus; Secretary of CPC UIC Committee and Vice President (Students and General Affairs), Prof Zhang Cong reported on UIC’s educational characteristics and achievements.

President Tang said UIC will bring together outstanding talents from China and abroad to better serve the development of Zhuhai and play an important role in the Greater Bay Area.
He pointed out the development priority of UIC in the next phrase will be to upgrade teaching resources as well as graduate education, in addition to further explore international cooperation and push forward scientific innovation and output.

Accompanying Mr Guo were member of Standing Committee of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee Mr Wu Shi; Zhuhai Vice Mayor Mr Yan Wu; Party Secretary of Zhuhai National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Mr Yan Haobo; as well as members from the office of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Zhuhai Education Bureau, Zhuhai Finance Bureau, Natural Resources Bureau, Technology and Innovation Bureau and more.
Also attending the meeting were UIC’s Associate Vice President Prof George Wei; Managing Director for Finance and Administration Mr Nelson Chan; Registrar Professor Li Jianhui; Dean of the Division of Business and Management Prof Stella Cho; and Assistants to President Ms Lilian Li and Ms Ashura Lam.
