UIC's Liberal Arts Education encourages students to explore the fields that interest them. Therefore, students can transfer their undergraduate programmes, subject to college regulations.

Zhao Youran
Zhao Youran, a 2019 cohort student, transferred to the Accounting (ACCT) programme in the second semester of her first year of university study. Before that, she sought help from peer mentors, professors, and division administrators, considering programme information sessions and her career plan. Students who apply for undergraduate programme transferring should submit a personal statement. Youran took it as an opportunity to plan for her future development and learn more about the target programme.

Liu Yingxin
Third-year student Liu Yingxin changed her major from Data Science to Statistics when getting into her second year at UIC—learning that the Statistics (STAT) Programme curriculum would cultivate her mathematic logic, which is essential for her pursuit in the computer and big data sectors. When staying with teammates on group projects, she reminds herself to keep positive and communicate with them actively. In the third year, she joined an academic project group led by Dr Wu Jingjin and found her strong interest in statistics.

Yang Kaiyuan
Yang Kaiyuan from the 2020 cohort found his interest in linguistics-related fields when he was young. Meeting the requirements of programme transferring policies, he applied to join the Applied Translation Studies (ATS) programme. The Programme Director, Dr Qian Hong, was patient, assisting him in making a study plan. New classmates also supported him a lot. Yang Kaiyuan gained translation knowledge theoretically and practically. He also built his learning system to sharpen his translation skills further.

Chen Ziqi
Chen Ziqi from the 2019 cohort was attracted by what the Culture, Creativity and Management (CCM) programme offers, as it combines business management and cultural creativity. Hence, she decided to transfer to the CCM programme. She pushed herself to adapt to the academic life in CCM, with self-learning and time management skills developing a lot. Recently, she exposed herself to new experiences, including developing games appealing to bird protection, becoming a video producer on social media, and taking part-time product R&D and online operation jobs in bakery shops.
