Freshmen's parents tune into live forum to know UIC

To enhance the communication between the students' parents and the College, UIC recently held a forum for the parents of new students. The forum was live-streamed and was organised by the Four-Point Education Coordination Office.

President of UIC, Prof Tang Tao, addressed that UIC is a liberal art university with a high emphasis on teaching. He expressed his gratitude for parents' support, encouraging parents to have faith in their children and let them face the challenge individually. In the future, UIC will keep introducing more excellent talents and will also be actively involved in constructing the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

UIC Provost, Prof Chen Zhi, introduced the history, educational characteristics and development of UIC. He also claimed that, as a liberal art university, UIC is committed to cultivating outstanding talents with a global vision. UIC will also pay full attention to students' physical and mental growth as well as a career plan.

Director of Student Affairs Office, Prof Johnston Hong-Chung Wong; Director of the Whole Person Education Office, Prof Guo Haipeng; and Director of the Four-Point Education Coordination Office, Ms Jennifer Lin; respectively introduced their offices at the forum.


In the Q&A session, many questions were answered in detail by the president and other department heads, including Vice President (Academic), Prof Huang Huaxiong; Party Secretary of the College Party Committee and Vice President (Administration), Prof Mao Yaqing; Vice President (Research and Development), Professor Jia Weijia; Associate Academic Registrar, Ms Kennis Ng; and Director of Media and Public Relations Office, Ms Emily Wu.

In the afternoon, Dean of Division of Business and Management, Prof Liu Wenbin; Dean of Science and Technology, Prof Pan Jianxin; Associate Dean of Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof Zhao Xiaobin, and Executive Dean of Division of Culture and Creativity, Dr Jiang Wei all attended and gave speeches in regard of academic studies or programme-oriented issues. 

Many parents left messages expressing their gratitude for UIC's well-planned forum and making them more confident in their children's education. They hope that their children can take advantage of the next four years at UIC, achieve success in their studies, and lay a firm academic foundation for their future.
