
Founded in 2019 by UIC and published by Global Science Press in Hong Kong, Innovative Teaching and Learning (ITL) aims to promote teaching and learning in higher education through empirical and review studies as well as teaching practices. The latest issue of ITL, which was released in June 2021, has achieved a new success in many regards.
This issue of ITL is the first all-English issue composed of six high-quality articles addressing essential topics, including different modes of undergraduate education, curriculum design of undergraduate and graduate programs, and more. The number of pages has also increased by 37% from the previous issue.

The authors hail from diverse backgrounds such as Peking University, Hong Kong Baptist University, UIC, and universities in the US. External reviewers take up 57% of the total number. Their affiliated institutions range from Fordham University, Arizona State University, and the University of Aberdeen to the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, HKBU, Xi’an Jiaotong University, as well as others. The average review period is about three months due to strict and in-depth assessment.
Professor Zhi Chen, an internationally acclaimed scholar, researcher in Chinese Studies, and Provost of UIC, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ITL. Dr Yi-Lung Kuo, an Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning at UIC, is the Managing Editor. Advisory Editorial Board members include Professor Jianhua Lin (Peking University), Dr Xin Lu (China’s Ministry of Education), and Professor Tao Tang (President of UIC).

UIC is the first modern college in China that upholds a liberal arts education. Moreover, it is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. UIC is situated in the beautiful city of Zhuhai in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
